A Shout Out to My George

When it comes to celebrities and the like, I don't care too much about what's going on in their lives. All those awards shows go unwatched by me and I usually hear about what happened later on. What I am interested in, though, is knowing whether George wins his nominations or not. Well, thanks to Danny, I learned that over the weekend, George finally won his first Grammy, after receiveing four previous Grammy nominations over the years. This goes along with the other 55 awards he's already won since 1984. Just a few more stats: in his nearly 30 year career he's had 56 #1 songs, the most for anyone in any genre of music. He's sold more than 73 million albums, third only behind Elvis and the Beattles. In 2006, he was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame, only the second person ever to be inducted while still producing chart-topping music. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE his music and truly think he's the best. So, all you George fans, join in on the shout out. All you closet George fans, just admit how awesome he is. And all those of you are outright anti, you are obviously in the minority. :)

6948 Miles in 8 Days...Whew!!

We had a whirlwind travel schedule last week with the main intent being to look for a house out in Alabama. We left our house in Sahuarita on a Friday and headed to my mom's in Mesa to stay the night. The next day we flew to Denver to see my in-laws and their new house (they just moved from Mesa a few weeks ago). We were there a couple of days, then Danny and I flew to Huntsville, Alabama. We spent about 48 hours there, walked through 8 homes, and left with one of them secured as ours to rent when we move there in three weeks. Then we flew back to Denver to spend a couple more days with my in-laws. On Saturday morning, we flew back to Phoenix and made the to two-hour drive back to Sahuarita that afternoon. We had a great time everywhere we went - nice people, good food, new sights. It was especially good for the kids to spend a week with their grandparents. We're thrilled about our new house and our new city, and we couldn't have made the trip without the help of my in-laws in tending the kids. Thanks, Mom and Dad!!

We took the kids one day to the Denver Children's Museum and they LOVED it.
